Chipotle Chilies 100g

Chipotle chilies are finger-sized, smoked, dried red jalapenos that are tobacco-colored. Also known as: chile cuaresmeño.

When fresh, they have a glossy dark green color, fleshy, conical in shape, elongated and can end in a pointed or flat shape. They can be spicy or very spicy.

The name "jalapeño" derives from the original crops of chillies, in Jalapa (Veracruz).

In Mexico, it is also known as chile cuaresmeño, as they used to bring it only during Lent (cuaresma), which they used to fill with cheese or tuna.

Once dried, chipotle chilies are smoked or canned in an adobo (vinegar sauce) that can be sweet or spicy.
