Chopped Dried Epazote is used as a leafy vegetable and herb. Traditionally used with black beans for flavor and its carminative properties, it has a flavor similar to the licorice flavor of anise, fennel or even tarragon, but stronger.
Use this chopped dried epazote to add a fragrant, grassy kick to Mexican beans or when sautéing mushrooms. Epazote is often confused with Mexican oregano, but it is a different plant with a more perfumed and 'green' taste.
A must have on your spice rack and use little and often in authentic Mexican recipes.
