Mulato Chilies 100g

Mulato Chili is from the Capsicum annuum family.

Mulato chili is a mild to medium chili, closely related to poblano and usually sold dried.

Mexican Mulato chilies are part of the famous "trinity" used in mole, as well as other Mexican sauces and stews. The Aztecs made sauces with chilies and they were referred to as molli. The Spanish translated this word to pier [moh-LAY], and it is the familiar name today. While there are different types of mole, many of us think of mole when we think of a dish made with dark dried chilies, nuts, seeds and a small amount of chocolate. Mulato's color as it grows is dark green and matures to red or brown. The dried mulato is flat and curly and always brown-black in color.
