In 1904, Gabriel Posada and Valerio Tobón (the name of the company is a combination of their surnames) began producing soft drinks. Soon after, their first product, Colombiana Postobón, also called "Cola-Champagne", became very famous in bars, kiosks and clubs. This product was sold with a cart pulled by a donkey. Due to Andes' geographical challenge, the company was unable to sell its products in all cities. At that time, Posada and Tobón decided to open two factories: the first opened in Manizales in 1906 and the second in Cali in the same year. Today, Postobón soft drinks are known all over the world.
